From 25 October, Jazeera Airways begins direct flights between Kuwait International Airport and Aswan airport in southern Egypt, making Aswan the ninth Egyptian destination on its network.
The schedule
The route is operated with an Airbus A320, and its published schedule falls within the winter season running from 30 October 2026 to 26 March 2027:
- J9747 leaves Kuwait at 10 in the evening and reaches Aswan at five past midnight.
- J9748 leaves Aswan at 1:05 in the morning and reaches Kuwait at 5.
Sources differ on the number of weekly flights, between three and four, and the airline had not issued a final figure at the time of writing.
Nine Egyptian airports
With Aswan, Jazeera’s Egyptian network reaches nine destinations: Cairo, Sphinx airport, Alexandria, Assiut, Luxor, Sohag, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and now Aswan.
The airline’s presence in the Egyptian market dates to 2006, when it began flying to Alexandria, according to chief executive Barathan Pasupathi, who tied the decision to open the route to the size of the Egyptian community in Kuwait, which he put at more than 690,000 — a figure announced by the airline rather than by an official statistical body.
Egypt’s ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammed Abu Al-Wafa, described Aswan as among his country’s leading tourist and cultural destinations.
What it means for a traveller
The timing is the story here. A 10pm departure means a full working day before the flight, and a return landing in Kuwait at 5am means arriving before office hours. This is a schedule built for someone travelling to see family rather than for someone taking a long holiday.
