This page explains what Kuwait One (kwt.one) collects from its visitors, why it collects it, how long it is kept, and how you can ask for it to be deleted. The principle the site was built on is simple: we do not ask for data we do not need, and we do not put advertising trackers on the pages.
The site does not require an account to read, to comment or to interact. There are no external analytics services on it, no ad networks, no social buttons that follow your visit, and no fonts or images loaded from third-party servers. Sharing by WhatsApp or email opens your own app directly and does not pass through us.
The data we collect
The contact form
When you send a message through the contact form we ask for your name, email address, subject and message.
- That message is not stored in the site’s database. It is sent to the editorial inbox, and the site’s part ends there.
- Your email is used as a reply address only. It is never published on the site and never added to a mailing list.
- Your IP address is recorded temporarily for one purpose: to stop dozens of messages being sent within minutes.
Sending us something
The submission form lets you send material for publication. It asks for your name, email address, a title and the text, optionally a video link, and up to three images in JPG format only.
- Unlike the contact form, your submission is stored on the site as an unpublished draft until an editor reads it, and your email is kept with it so the editor can come back to you.
- Images you upload are stored in the site’s media library. Do not put anything in the image or the text that you would not want published — a submission is sent with publication in mind.
- We accept JPG only; any other format is rejected before it is stored.
- Your IP address is used here too, to limit how many submissions can be sent in an hour, and it is not stored with the submission.
- Sending material means giving us permission to publish it or to edit it. If you are not the owner of an image or its rights, do not upload it.
Comments
Commenting needs no account. We ask for a name, an email address and the comment itself.
- The name and the comment are published. The email address is never published and is not visible to any reader.
- Comments are read before they appear on the site.
- WordPress stores the IP address and browser type with every comment; that data is used only to catch spam.
- The site does not display avatars, so your email is never sent to an external service to fetch a picture.
Likes
The like button is a popularity counter, not a register of names. We do not know who pressed it.
- No personal identifier is stored with a like — only a single number on the article.
- A cookie carrying no identifier is placed in your browser for one purpose: to remember that you liked this article so the like is not counted twice. It lasts a year, and you can delete it from your browser settings at any time.
Advertising statistics
We carry advertising space on the site, and we need to tell an advertiser how often their ad appeared and how often it was clicked. For that we keep daily aggregate counters:
- Impressions and clicks for each ad on each day.
- Device type at a general level: mobile or desktop.
- Traffic source at a general level: direct, internal browsing, or the name of the platform the visit came from.
What we do not keep here: no IP address, no cookie, no identifier belonging to you, and not the full URL you came from. These are aggregate figures, not a visit log, and they cannot show who saw an ad or who clicked it.
When you click an ad, the click passes through an internal link on the site so it can be counted, and then you go on to the advertiser’s site. There is no external ad intermediary in that process.
These counters are deleted automatically after about a year and forty days.
Server logs
Like any site on the internet, the server hosting this one records page requests along with the IP address and the time. Those logs are purely technical, used to run the site and protect it from attacks, and are erased periodically.
Cookies
The site uses as few cookies as possible:
- The like cookie described above, which carries no personal identifier.
- WordPress’s own login cookies, set only for people with an account in the site’s admin.
We do not use cookies for advertising tracking or to build a profile of your interests.
Third parties
- Akismet: checks comments and form messages for spam. It receives the message text, name, email, IP address and browser type, for classification only.
- The hosting provider: runs the server and keeps its technical logs.
- The mail service: carries form messages to the editorial inbox.
We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers.
How long we keep things
- Contact form messages: kept in the editorial inbox only, and deleted once they are no longer needed.
- Submissions: kept while under review or published; rejected ones are deleted after review.
- Comments: kept as long as the article is published, unless you ask for removal.
- IP-based rate limits: expire automatically within an hour.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time for:
- A copy of the data held about you.
- Correction of anything inaccurate.
- Deletion of your comment, your submission, or the data attached to it.
We respond to these requests within a reasonable time. We may ask you to confirm ownership of the email address used before acting, to protect you from a request made in your name by someone else.
Children
The site is written for adult readers, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If a submission or comment reaches us that turns out to be from a child, we delete it.
Data security
The whole site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and forms pass validation checks before they are accepted. No system is completely secure, but we hold to collecting the least data possible, which is the best protection there is.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page whenever a new feature is added to the site. Changes take effect from the date they are published here.
