Kaveen roastery in Shuwaikh Industrial does not only sell you a cup. Its online shop carries equipment, and the headline item is named in Kuwaiti rather than English: the kashta box — kashta being the desert outing everyone here plans for the cooler months.
The box, and what it is for
The description on the site explains the idea in the owner’s own words: a long search for a box that would hold coffee equipment, be practical in use, and not take up much room in the car. It is twenty-five dinars, down from thirty-seven. The well-known hand grinder, though, is marked sold out beneath it.
Beans and Arabic coffee
- Brazilian beans from Santa Maria: four dinars.
- Colombian beans from Pueblo Rico: four and a half.
- Arabic coffee with Brazilian beans: sold out.
- And a Turkish coffee line under the name Darwish, plus a collaboration with a local bakery on an Arabic coffee.
A line worth noticing
The site says the coffee is calibrated twice a day for every brewing method the roastery offers, and that cups are prepared to Specialty Coffee Association standards. That is not empty marketing copy: daily calibration is what makes the same cup taste the same again tomorrow.
Before you order
Delivery inside Kuwait is free on orders above ten dinars. Which means two bags of beans reach the threshold, and the box on its own clears it.
