How To

Where to Take an Old Tyre or Used Engine Oil: The EPA’s List of Licensed Plants

Twelve waste categories, four sites for tyres, and exactly one each for electronics and cooking oil. Call before you drive.

The Environment Public Authority publishes on its site a list of licensed waste recycling plants in Kuwait, sorted by material, with addresses and telephone numbers. Here is what it holds as of 6 September 2026, and what you should do before you load anything into your car.

Twelve categories

Plastic, paper and cardboard, wood, construction waste, tyres, batteries, mineral oils, cooking oil, aluminium, ink refilling, iron, and electronics. Alongside them are two further tables for concrete-waste and tyre management companies.

Tyres: four

Qurain Rubber Factory, Amghara Industrial block 2 plot 17, telephone 2456 2699. Kuwait Recycle, Salmi, waste recycling area block 1 plots 13 and 14, telephone 9925 8883. Ebisco International, Salmi block 1 plot 2, telephone 9800 5500. And the Kuwait and Gulf Transport Association, Salmi kilometre 67.

Engine oil: four

Among them the Kuwait Oils and Grease Production Company, West Shuaiba block 4 plot 52, telephone 1833336; and the Fossil factory, Amghara block 3 plot 253.

Car batteries: four

Among them Kuwait Used Battery Recycling, Amghara block 3 plots 164, 166 and 168, telephone 2458 4071; and the SAB factory, Jahra, craft extension block 1 plot B12.

And three materials with only one place each

Electronics: Tadwire Kuwait, Rai block 1 plot 1633 shop 12, telephone 5019 9864, tadwire.com.

Cooking oil: Naqaa International, East Ahmadi block 9 plot 2, telephone 6633 1574.

Aluminium: Al-Kout Metal Smelting, Mina Abdullah block 21 plot 117.

Plastic is taken by its number, not its shape

This is the most practical point on the whole list. Omniya accepts PET, number 1, and only clear or pale blue bottles. Al-Nawras accepts HDPE number 2 and LDPE number 4. The National Plastic Granules Establishment accepts LDPE film and bags only.

The number inside the triangle on the base is what decides where a bottle goes, not the fact that it is plastic.

And an easier route from home

Omniya is a Kuwaiti non-profit founded on 9 March 2023 that runs containers and an app for collecting PET from households, at omniya-kw.com.

Call before you drive

That is not a formality. The list does not say whether the plants accept small household quantities at all, nor their working hours, nor whether they pay you or charge you. And the authority’s page carries no publication or update date, so some addresses may be out of date.

So the first step is a call to the number printed beside the plant, not a drive to Amghara.
