The Ministry of Education has approved higher fees at Arabic-curriculum private schools and Pakistani schools from the start of the current academic year. It applies once, not annually.
The band depends on what each school already charges. Schools whose fees start between 250 and 450 dinars may add 15 per cent. Schools at 451 dinars and above may add 10 per cent.
In return, a school taking the rise is expected to deliver services matching it.
Collection is fixed at three equal instalments: the first in the opening week of the pupil’s attendance, including the registration charge; the second in the opening week of the second term; the third in the opening week of the third term, following the academic calendar.
Schools must publish their approved rates to parents, and may not raise them or alter the number, timing or size of the instalments. The decision also sets what a pupil owes when moving between schools.
