If you hold a live application for a state rented home and have never refreshed your file, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare intends to cancel it. Its own notice puts the cut at 16 October 2026 — the close of a ninety-day window that opened on 19 July.
Who this is for
The women’s housing committee inherited 7,111 applications, some of them lodged in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and never touched since. By 24 September only about 3,900 women had completed the refresh. Anyone who has already done it is not asked to do it twice.
Two ways to do it
The quick route is the Sahel government app. The authority pushes a notice to every registered applicant with a live file; the notice carries a link straight into the update service, where the paperwork is attached as scans.
If no notice ever arrived, that is not a dead end — go in person. The customer service department at the authority’s main building takes updates morning and evening. Four outer counters also take them, at Liberation Tower, Jahra, Qurain and The Avenues, but mornings only.
What to bring
- Civil ID and nationality certificate, copies of both.
- Marriage contract, divorce certificate or husband’s death certificate, whichever applies.
- School certificates for the children covering the last two academic years.
- A travel-movement certificate from the General Administration of Borders for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
- A certificate from the Real Estate Registration Department confirming that neither the applicant nor her husband owns property.
- A commercial register certificate.
- A recent certificate from the Public Authority for Disability Affairs, if a family member has a moderate or severe disability.
- A salary certificate — or, if not working, certificates from the Public Institution for Social Security and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The date to work to
Two dates are circulating. The committee chair told local press the window shuts on 19 October; the authority’s published notice says cancellations begin on the 16th. Until one of them is withdrawn, treat 15 October as the real deadline.
One thing worth knowing
A current certificate of moderate or severe disability moves an application forward by the equivalent of five years. Mild disability does not qualify.
