The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, signed a supplementary agreement with D’Arcy Kuwait Company Ltd and Gulf Kuwait Company.

1993 — Kuwait signs the Basel Convention

Kuwait signed the Basel Convention on the cross-border movement of hazardous waste.

2002 — karate gold for Ahmed Mounir

National karate team member Ahmed Mounir won gold in the under-75 kg class at the 14th Asian Games in Busan.

2004 — the Al-Abdulmughni health centre in Faiha

The Abdulrahman Al-Abdulmughni specialist health centre opened in Faiha, with family-medicine, diabetes and dental clinics.

2010 — a seat on the ITU council

Kuwait was elected to the council of the International Telecommunication Union at the Plenipotentiary Conference in Guadalajara, Mexico.

2010 — Arab junior fencing champions

Kuwait’s fencing team won the 17th Arab junior championship in Beirut with fifteen medals, ten of them gold.

2013 — Kuwait signs the Minamata Convention

Kuwait signed the Minamata Convention, which controls the use and trade of mercury to limit its harm to health and the pollution it causes.
