Company owners: set up your Hawyti e-signature before it becomes mandatory

The Ministry of Commerce will soon require it to incorporate or amend a business, with the start date still to come.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is telling business owners and managers to switch on the electronic signature in the Hawyti app now. It will become a requirement for incorporating a company and for any amendment to one.

The circular, posted on the Sahel app, covers every kind of commercial entity: public and closed shareholding companies, limited liability companies, sole proprietorships and licensed home businesses.

Who needs to activate it

  • The owner and the manager of every company or sole proprietorship.
  • For shareholding companies listed on Boursa Kuwait: board members and managers or chief executives.
  • Holders of a home-business licence.

When it starts

The ministry has not set a date and says it will announce one later. The point of the notice is to have the signature ready before then, so an incorporation or amendment does not stall on the first day the rule applies.
