1955 — the income-tax decree

The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued Decree 3 of 1955 on income tax, levying it on corporate bodies trading or doing business in Kuwait.

1955 — Tunisian students in Kuwait’s schools

The Education Council decided to start admitting Tunisian students as part of the Maghreb mission in Kuwait.

1961 — the Arab Theatre troupe is founded

The Arab Theatre troupe was founded under the Ministry of Social Affairs, the first company in which Kuwaiti women performed — Maryam Al-Saleh and Maryam Al-Ghadhban among them. It began work under Zaki Tulaimat, and its first play, Saqr Quraish, opened in March 1962.

1979 — the public gatherings law

The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued Decree-Law 65 of 1979 on public meetings and gatherings.

1994 — an emergency sitting of parliament

The National Assembly held an extraordinary session on the Iraqi troop build-up on Kuwait’s border and issued a statement praising the Kuwaiti armed forces.

2011 — the Al-Qurain Centre for Islamic Studies

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs opened the Al-Qurain Centre for Islamic Studies, built by its Quran and Islamic Studies sector.

2013 — Qadsia win the first international basketball cup

Qadsia won the first international basketball championship, beating Egypt’s Al-Ittihad of Alexandria 64–54.
