1972 — an embassy in Brazil

Kuwait opened an embassy in Brazil.

1976 — a joint Gulf programme-production body

The Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued Decree-Law 71 of 1976 approving the agreement that set up the Gulf States Joint Programme Production Institution, signed in Abu Dhabi on 4 January 1976.

1979 — Kuwait joins the civil aviation treaties

The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued four decree-laws, numbers 61 to 64 of 1979, bringing Kuwait into international aviation treaties, among them the 1971 Montreal Convention against unlawful acts endangering civil aviation and the convention on offences committed on board aircraft.

1985 — the Shuwaikh main substation

One of the main power-transmission projects came into service with the completion of the 300/132/11 kV main substation in Shuwaikh, built to raise the grid’s capacity.

2002 — Fawzi Dahesh takes gold in Busan

Sprinter Fawzi Dahesh won the 400 metres at the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, in 44.93 seconds.

2008 — the Al-Salam health centre opens

Health minister Ali Al-Barrak opened the Al-Salam health centre, serving the areas south of Surra with family medicine, specialist clinics and general practice.

2013 — Al-Fatat win the Yas women’s basketball title

Al-Fatat club won the third Yas Arab women’s club basketball championship in Abu Dhabi, beating Jordan’s Al-Muqawilun 83–75 in the final.
