The China Garden menu carries a section most restaurants do not have: “a dish for six people”. It turns the arithmetic upside down, because the price is divided rather than paid in full by one person.
The dishes for six
- Spicy Mongolian beef with steamed rice, fried rice or vegetable noodles: 21.750 — about 3.625 a head.
- Sweet and sour chicken with the same choice: 20.750 — about 3.458 a head.
- Dynamite shrimp: 17.000 — about 2.833 a head.
- Spicy edamame: 8.750 — about 1.458 a head, the cheapest sharing dish on the menu.
For comparison: a single plate of spicy chicken noodles is 2.700, and mushroom fried rice 3.500. So the sharing dish is not automatically better value — the Mongolian beef per head costs more than a single plate of noodles.
The starters are nearly all one price
Crab rangoon, sweet chilli potatoes, and chicken dumplings fried or steamed — all 2.950. Shrimp dumplings are 3.750 either way. So the cooking method does not change the price; the filling does.
The small extras
- A side sauce — hoisin or green salad dressing: 300 fils.
- Water: 400 fils. Sparkling water: a whole dinar.
- Soft drinks: 450 fils.
Desserts
Nutella wontons and cheesecake spring rolls at 1.750 each. So dessert here is less than half the price of any main.
