A visit visa for relatives is a short transaction, but two clauses in it stop files at the counter: passport validity, and proof of relationship.
What is asked of you
- The visit application form provided for it.
- A copy of the visitor’s passport, with no less than six months of validity remaining.
- Proof of the family relationship.
- A copy of the sponsor’s civil ID.
- A recent salary certificate for a foreign sponsor working in the government sector, or one generated from the computer system.
The clause that invalidates a document people often bring
Proof of relationship is required, but the text explicitly excludes sworn statements issued by an embassy: they are not accepted. Anyone who brings one assuming it will do goes away to fetch something else.
Where to submit
A Kuwaiti goes to the General Department of Immigration in any governorate. A non-Kuwaiti resident goes to the immigration department of the governorate they themselves fall under — not any governorate. Then the form is filled in and the fee paid.
The fee
Ten dinars for each month. There is no other variable charge; the duration is what sets the amount.
