Rebuilding a mortgaged government house? The request now goes through Sahel

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has added a new service to Sahel, the government’s unified services app: owners of government houses still mortgaged to the authority can now apply online to demolish and rebuild, instead of filing the request in person.

Who it is for

Holders of a government house document whose house is still mortgaged to PAHW and who want to knock it down and build again.

How to apply

  1. Open Sahel and go to Services.
  2. Choose the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, then its distribution and documentation services.
  3. Pick the request to demolish and rebuild the house.
  4. Fill in the required details, add any notes, attach a photo of the house document and submit.

What happens next

Sahel sends a notification confirming the request was received and passed to the department that reviews it, and you can follow its progress in the app.

Once it is approved, a second notification arrives. Two working days later, visit the Real Estate Registration department at a PAHW branch to sign the debt acknowledgment, the one step that still needs a visit.

The announcement did not mention a fee or how long the review takes.
