Jahra Reserve: Ten Dinars for Five, and Only Seven Cars Inside the Fence

The booking is cancelled if you do not pay within minutes, and changes must come three working days ahead.

Jahra Nature Reserve is not a park you walk into when you please. Entry is by permit, the permit is applied for from the Environment Public Authority through its services portal, and it is paid for online before it is approved.

The price follows the group, not the head

The fee is calculated on the whole party:

  • Five people or fewer: ten dinars.
  • Six: twelve dinars.
  • Seven: fourteen.
  • Eight: sixteen.
  • Nine: eighteen.
  • Ten: twenty dinars.

So there is no place for an eleventh person on a single application. The ceiling is ten.

Three hides, and you pick one

The application requires you to choose the hide: the first, the second or the third. A hide is an enclosed hut from which you watch birds without them seeing you, which is the whole reason it exists.

Ten minutes to pay

The application is cancelled if payment is not completed within ten minutes of its submission. The booking is not held while you look for your card.

Changes three working days ahead

Changing a hide booking is possible if the request is made at least three working days before the booking. After that there is no change. Bookings are non-refundable.

Inside the fence

  • Visiting runs from six in the morning to five in the evening.
  • No more than seven cars inside the reserve at any one time.
  • The speed limit is thirty kilometres an hour, and driving off the marked tracks is forbidden.
  • Cutting or uprooting plants is forbidden, hunting or catching any animal is forbidden, and feeding wildlife is forbidden.
  • No camping, no fires, no cooking, no drones, no noise.
  • Breaching the instructions gives the authority the right to cancel the permit.

And photographers have their own door

The authority has a separate form: an entry permit for observation and documentation by amateur photographers. Anyone whose purpose is the photograph rather than the outing goes through that door rather than the general visit one.
