The General Traffic Department has closed two lanes — the slow and the middle — on King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street opposite the Jaber area, in the direction heading for Kuwait City, the opposite direction to traffic arriving from Saudi Arabia.
The dates
From Saturday 29 August to Sunday 13 September. So the closure is in force now, with a week still to run.
The clause that changes your route
The closure does not stop at the two lanes. The slip road to the Fourth Ring Road in the same direction is closed as well. Anyone used to leaving there will find themselves carried on to the next exit — so the cost is not one lane fewer but a missing exit.
What was not stated
No reason for the closure was announced, and no alternative route was suggested. What was published is the location, the direction and the two dates.
