On the events list at “Visit Kuwait”, the official tourism site, there is an event whose location field carries no address but a single sentence: the venue is set according to the wind forecast. It is called the one-day kiteboarding experience, and it is listed from 17 June to 30 October.
The session itself
Two hours, one-to-one instruction with a coach, and the basic equipment included. The published content: wind fundamentals, safety systems, kite control, rigging the equipment, then practical training in the water depending on conditions.
The venue moves. The operator’s page says the location is chosen according to the wind, usually at Khiran and the nearby coastal areas. Training hours run from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon, on weekdays and weekends.
Three routes, not one
- One-day experience — an introductory session for anyone who has not tried it.
- Zero to riding — an intensive beginners course, five to seven days depending on the trainee’s progress and the weather.
- The extended version — seventeen private sessions over a month.
Prices as they stand on the shop
The experience session is 119 dinars, the intensive course 599, and the monthly programme 999. The government page advertises a 15 per cent discount on the one-day session, but the product page shows the full amount with no struck-through price. Ask about the discount before you pay.
Conditions worth reading twice
- Booking four to seven days ahead is advised to secure a slot.
- Sessions are confirmed according to the wind and weather forecast, and may be rescheduled if the forecast is unsuitable.
- Arriving more than fifteen minutes late may cause the session to count as used.
- Cancelling less than twenty-four hours ahead also counts the session.
- Anyone under twenty-one needs the approval of a parent or legal guardian before training begins.
- The coach may postpone or end a session if conditions or their assessment indicate that continuing is unsafe.
- The value of the experience session is deducted from the programme price if the trainee continues.
And what you will not find
There is no fixed meeting point on either page, and that is deliberate, because the place follows the wind. The contact number published on the government page is 56666186, and the email info@q8kiteboarding.com. Registration runs to 30 October.
