Messilah Beach: Five Destinations, Four Opening Schedules

Arrive at noon on a Monday and only the indoor kids zone is running; two of the three gates stay shut until 4pm.

The shoreline at Messilah Beach in Kuwait

Messilah Beach on Taawun Street is not one place but five, and each has its own ticket, its own conditions and its own opening hours. Turn up with the family without reading the timetable and you can arrive to find the thing you came for still closed.

Four different opening schedules in one place

  • Trampo — Sunday to Wednesday from 1 in the afternoon to 11 at night; Thursday to Saturday from 11 in the morning to 11 at night.
  • Fun Quest — Sunday to Thursday from 4 in the afternoon to 11 at night; Friday and Saturday from 2 in the afternoon.
  • RC Arena — daily from 4 in the afternoon to 11 at night.
  • Flow Island, the water park, keeps its own season and its own daytime hours, and shuts long before the rest of the site does.

Which means a family arriving at midday on a Monday will find only Trampo open, and arriving before 4 on any day from Sunday to Thursday closes two of the three gates.

Trampo measures by height, not age

Trampo takes children from age one up to 150 centimetres tall, so a tall child can be turned away while their friends of the same age go in. Inside there are lockers, a sand corner and two birthday rooms.

RC Arena charges by the minute

RC Arena prices in minutes rather than tickets, and all three of its lanes cost 2.5 dinars:

  • Race track — age 9 and above, 2.5 dinars for seven minutes.
  • Off-road area — age 4 and above, 2.5 dinars for seven minutes.
  • Children’s car ride — ages 4 to 9, 2.5 dinars for five minutes.

Payment is on arrival, by KNET or Visa.

Villa Shams and Fun Quest

Villa Shams is a beach club for women only, with female staff and a temperature-controlled infinity pool. Fun Quest covers games and high-level adventure courses, and is the one that opens latest on weekdays.

The water park in one line

Flow Island runs seven ticket types, from an 18-dinar adult pass with swimming down to a 3-dinar companion pass without it, and a group booking of six or more takes 25 per cent off. A dry 3-dinar ticket can be upgraded to full swimming at reception by paying the 15-dinar difference.

Conditions in the water areas

Proper swimwear is required to enter the water, and anything else is refused. Tanning oils, cosmetics and body and hair products are banned in and near the water areas. Non-swimmers are kept out of the deep areas.

The address is Taawun Street, Messilah 13036, and the phone is 97241669. Booking is through the beach website.
