Kuwait’s Ministry of Education finished reviewing appeals from teachers caught up in its staff redistribution plan today, and said it had accepted 1,311 appeals logged in its online system. Those turned down, it said, did not meet the conditions once reviewed.
What to do now
The ministry told everyone covered by a redistribution decision, including those whose appeal succeeded, to check the decision issued for them through the Qararati (“My Decisions”) service on moe.edu.kw, then finish the paperwork online through the Teacher and Administrator Record system:
- The head of your previous school approves your clearance.
- The head of your new school approves your start of work.
- Once the start is approved, your fingerprint attendance record transfers to the new school automatically.
None of these steps needs a visit to an administrative office.
How appeals were judged
- Distance between home and the new school of at least 16 km.
- Health cases, and caring for people with disabilities or special needs.
- Social and family circumstances that warrant consideration.
Some of these cases are not recorded in the teacher record system, the ministry said, so they were checked against the official documents attached to each appeal.
The effect on schools
According to the ministry, 75 percent of teaching loads now fall within the appropriate range across all education districts, up from 34 percent before the plan.
Appeals against the transfer decisions issued on 6 October were open online from 7 to 9 October.
