Public Works opens a disability service centre with sign-language and Braille equipment

Blind, deaf and low-vision visitors to the ministry can now read documents and talk to staff without help.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works opened an Integrated Services Centre for People with Disabilities at its headquarters on Monday, 5 October 2026. Minister Dr Noura Al-Mishaan inaugurated it. The centre serves both visitors and ministry staff with mobility, hearing or visual impairments.

What the centre has

  • A live sign-language interpretation device, for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors
  • A text magnifier, for people with low vision or colour blindness
  • An instant reading device for blind visitors
  • A Braille printer, so documents can be handed over in Braille

What it means if you have business there

If you are dealing with the Ministry of Public Works and have a visual or hearing impairment, ask for the centre when you arrive. You should be able to read your paperwork in Braille or large print and speak to staff through sign-language interpretation, without bringing someone along to help.

The ministry’s statement did not give the centre’s opening hours or where it sits inside the building.
