1993 — The death of Mohammad Abdulmohsen Al Kharafi
The businessman Mohammad Abdulmohsen Al Kharafi died at the age of seventy-four. He was among the most prominent Kuwaiti businessmen and a well-known figure in Kuwait, the Gulf and the Arab world.
1997 — Kuwait made a regional centre for legal information
The US Library of Congress chose Kuwait as a regional centre for the Global Legal Information Network.
1998 — Recognition for Barjas Al Barjas
Newsweek International gave the former chairman and director general of Kuwait News Agency, Barjas Hamoud Al Barjas, a certificate of appreciation for his contribution to publishing Arab and Islamic news and special reports.
2012 — A memorandum with a Korean company
Kuwait Petroleum International signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s SK Energy to develop an integrated refinery and petrochemical complex project in Indonesia.
2013 — The squash world cup comes to Kuwait
The Kuwait Squash Federation announced that Kuwait had won the right to host the 2015 World Cup, the first time the tournament would be held anywhere in the Gulf.
2015 — Mubarak Al Kabeer joins Ramsar
The Environment Public Authority announced that the Mubarak Al Kabeer reserve on Bubiyan island had been listed under the Ramsar convention on wetlands of international importance.
2018 — The death of Abdullah Al Muhanna
Dr Abdullah Al Muhanna, member of the Kuwait Writers Association and former dean of the faculty of arts at Kuwait University, died at the age of seventy-six.
