1961 — Ten constituencies
The amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah, issued a law on the system for electing members of the Constituent Assembly, dividing the country into ten constituencies each returning two members, and requiring a member to be at least thirty years old.
1976 — The ninth cabinet
The amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah, issued an amiri decree forming the ninth cabinet in Kuwait’s history, of eighteen ministers under the crown prince, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
1976 — A ministry replaces the council
The Ministry of Planning replaced the Planning Council for the first time, and Mohammad Yousef Al Adsani was appointed its minister.
1990 — The death of Yousef Doukhi
The artist Yousef Doukhi died at the age of fifty-six. He was among the leading figures of the modern Kuwaiti song, the first to bring a women’s chorus into the sawt form, and the man who adapted the tanbura dance into Kuwaiti composition.
1993 — Buying the debts
The amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, issued a law authorising the Central Bank of Kuwait, on the state’s behalf, to purchase debts owed by natural persons among GCC citizens and Kuwaiti customers, against bonds maturing within a period not exceeding twenty years.
1995 — The law on trying ministers
A law was issued on the trial of ministers, applying to every minister in respect of offences against state security, the duties of public office, the elections law, the course of justice and the protection of public money.
2008 — Nasser Al Muqallad first in Asia
The Asian Shooting Confederation announced that Nasser Al Muqallad had taken first place in Asia in trap shooting on the general ranking.
2015 — Six medals from Yokohama
Kuwait’s karate team took six medals of various colours at the thirteenth Asian senior championship, held in Yokohama.
2021 — Crowds return to the stands
The cabinet approved the return of spectators to sports grounds from the start of the 2021/2022 season, under set conditions.
