1958 — Kuwait House in Dokki

The Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser opened the “Kuwait House” building in the Dokki district of Cairo, for Kuwaiti students studying there, with the head of the education department, Sheikh Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah, in attendance.

2000 — Signing the statute of the International Criminal Court

Kuwait signed the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court at the United Nations, in the belief that establishing it would help preserve international peace and security and punish those who commit grave crimes.

2000 — A first Asian title for youth handball

Kuwait’s national youth team took the seventh Asian handball championship for the first time in its history, beating Qatar twenty-five to twenty-two in the final, played in the Iranian city of Mashhad.

2010 — A peaceful nuclear agreement with Japan

Kuwait and Japan signed an agreement in Tokyo on bilateral cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, covering the exchange of expertise, the development of specialised human resources and strengthening Kuwaiti capabilities in nuclear security.

2010 — An agreement with Toronto on cancer treatment

The Ministry of Health signed an agreement with the University Health Network hospitals representing the University of Toronto, to develop cancer treatment services at the Hussein Makki Juma centre and its associated centres, for five years renewable.

2010 — The death of Abdulaziz Al Fulaij

The former minister and MP Abdulaziz Al Fulaij died at the age of eighty-three. He had been elected to the National Assembly in its second term in 1967, and held the health portfolio in 1965.

2024 — Mina Abdullah refinery first in the world

Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s Mina Abdullah refinery took first place worldwide in risk management engineering, according to a field survey by the American firm Marsh.
