Vanguard Symphony Orchestra brings “In Orbit of the Moon” to JACC on Saturday 24 October
Kuwaiti composer Nawaf Al-Gharaba conducts his own work after its Cairo recording; seats from KD 5.

The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre hosts the Vanguard Symphony Orchestra on the evening of Saturday 24 October, conducted by the Kuwaiti composer Nawaf Al-Gharaba, in the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Hall.
The programme
At its centre is “Opus 1: In Orbit of the Moon”, a symphonic project Al-Gharaba has worked on for several years. The title borrows the Moon’s orbit, with its swing between dark and light, and the music moves from quiet reflection to the full weight of the orchestra. The evening includes:
- Violin Concerto No. 1, with violinist Salma Sorour;
- Symphony No. 1, “Hope”.
The work was recorded live in Cairo in January 2026 with about 80 of the orchestra’s musicians; this concert brings it home to Kuwait.
