1966 — Kuwait approves the founding of the Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology
Kuwait gave its approval to the convention establishing the Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology under the Arab League, signed in Cairo on 26 June 1966.
1990 — The Security Council adopts resolution 669
The UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 669, instructing the sanctions committee to examine every request for assistance from states facing economic hardship as a result of honouring the embargo imposed on Iraq after its invasion of Kuwait.
1992 — The first cargo of lake oil is exported
Kuwait exported its first shipment of lake oil — crude recovered from the oil lakes left on the desert surface by the Iraqi regime’s aggression against the country.
1996 — Kuwait signs the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty
First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty on the margins of the 51st session of the UN General Assembly. Kuwait was one of the treaty’s sponsoring states.
2007 — Three figures in culture and heritage take the State Appreciation Award
The 2007 State Appreciation Award went to the poet Abdulmohsen Al-Rashid Al-Badr, to Lulwa Al-Qatami, a pioneer of women’s public work in Kuwait, and to Tareq Sayed Rajab, among the most prominent collectors of Kuwaiti and Islamic heritage.

1996 — The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty opens for signature
The treaty opened for signature at UN Headquarters in New York. It bans every nuclear test explosion, military or civilian, and remains open for signature until it enters into force under its article XI.
2014 — India’s Mangalyaan probe enters Mars orbit
The Mangalyaan spacecraft entered orbit around the red planet, making the Indian Space Research Organisation the fourth space agency to put a craft in Mars orbit. It had launched aboard a PSLV-C25 rocket on 5 November 2013.
