The ticketing site of Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre currently lists nine concerts, the first tonight and the last at the end of October. Here is the full list, with what the announcements leave out: the price each one starts from, how long it runs, and the minimum age.
August
Arab Stars Who Sang for Kuwait — Sunday 30 August, Drama Theatre, 8:30 pm. Songs the great Arab singers wrote in praise of Kuwait, performed again by Abdulaziz Al Musbah and Saud Al Fayez with the orchestra under Dr Mohammad Al Buaijan. From KD 5, two hours, no entry under ten.
September
Mohammad Fadl Shaker — Thursday 10 September, Sheikh Jaber Al Ali Hall, 8:00 pm. His father’s songs alongside his own, conducted by maestro Bassem Nemir. From KD 15, 135 minutes including a half-hour interval, ages eight and up.
Ya Hal Al Samer — Monday 14 September, Sheikh Jaber Al Ali Hall, 8:00 pm. An evening of samri and khammari heritage music sung by the choir under Dr Khaled Nouri. From KD 15, 140 minutes including a 20-minute interval, ages ten and up.
Ayed — Friday 18 September, National Theatre, 9:30 pm. From KD 10, 145 minutes with no interval, ages eight and up.
Al Mughanna: Life of the Soul, with Mohammad Mohsen — Thursday 24 September, Sheikh Jaber Al Ali Hall, 8:00 pm. A journey through the Arabic song classics from Sayed Darwish to today, conducted by maestro George Qalta. From KD 10, 150 minutes including a half-hour interval, ages ten and up.
Batman 1989 — Live in Concert — Friday 25 September, National Theatre. The film screens in full while its score is played live on stage by the Emirates Philharmonic Orchestra under maestro Nicholas Mann. From KD 10, 150 minutes including a half-hour interval, ages eight and up.
October
Elissa — Friday 2 October, National Theatre, 9:30 pm. Her first meeting with the centre’s audience, with a large ensemble under maestro Hany Farhat. From KD 10, 90 minutes with no interval, ages ten and up.
Blue — Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October, National Theatre, 8:30 pm both nights. The British group returns after its first concerts here in April 2025, on a tour marking 25 years since it started, with its best-known songs and the newest from the album Reflections. From KD 10, 75 minutes, ages ten and up.
The Beatles: A Symphonic Fantasy — Friday 30 October, National Theatre, 8:30 pm. Arranged by maestro Damien Maller, with 13 players and four singers. From KD 10, 105 minutes with no interval, ages ten and up.
Three things the list tells you
The priciest is not the foreign act. Mohammad Fadl Shaker and Ya Hal Al Samer both start at KD 15, while Blue, Elissa and Batman start at KD 10. And the cheapest of the nine is the Kuwaiti concert tonight, from KD 5.
Only one concert suits anyone with young children. Batman has two showings on the same day, one of them at 4:00 pm. Everything else begins after eight, and two of them after half past nine.
Nothing here is for children under eight. Every concert on the list sets a minimum of eight years, and six of them set ten.
