The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy began its annual round of network maintenance on 1 October. It runs the length of the grid — main transformer stations first, then overhead lines and underground cables, down to the secondary substations.
What it means at home
The ministry’s spokeswoman, Eng. Fatima Jawhar Hayat, said some of the work will mean the power goes off for a while in parts of specific areas, on timetables the ministry publishes on its official social accounts as each job comes up.
The part worth acting on: the warning does not come by knocking on doors. The ministry pushes it through the government Sahel app, addressed by whatever the Public Authority for Civil Information has on file for you. If PACI still lists the flat you left two years ago, the warning goes there and your lights go out unannounced.
Two things to do first
Check the address PACI holds for you. You can correct it inside Sahel itself, with no counter visit and no appointment — the steps are here.
Then follow the ministry’s own accounts. With each job it posts a live link showing the maintenance status, when it starts and when it is done.
