How To

Five Dinars for a Boat Plate, and Fifteen, Twenty or Twenty-Five to Replace It

Interior Decision 1089 of 2026 ties the fee to the craft’s length, not its type.

Ministry of Interior Decision No. 1089 of 2026 sets the fees for registration plates on floating units and marine bikes. The fee follows the craft’s length rather than its type, so a jet ski falls into the under-sixteen-feet band by length rather than as a class of its own. The decision was signed on 20 July 2026 and takes effect from its publication in Kuwait Al-Youm on 2 August.

The fees

  • First issue of a plate: KD 5 for all sizes.
  • Replacement of a lost or damaged plate: KD 15 under sixteen feet, KD 20 from sixteen to forty feet, KD 25 above forty feet.
  • Change of activity or nature of work: KD 50, KD 60 and KD 70 for the same three bands.
