Folding computers spent years in the category of technical demonstration rather than product. Huawei’s “MateBook Fold” tries to move them out of it, with a single screen that works at two sizes: eighteen inches open, thirteen closed.
The screen
A flexible dual-layer OLED panel under ultra-thin glass. Resolution is 3296 by 2472 pixels open, and 2472 by 1648 folded. Brightness is 700 nits in ordinary use, rising to 1,600 nits on high dynamic range content.
Weight and thickness
It weighs about 1.16 kilograms with the battery and without the keyboard. Thickness is 7.3 to 7.6 millimetres open, and 14.9 millimetres folded. Which makes the machine, opened out, closer to a thin panel than to a computer.

The point that settles the decision
The operating system is HarmonyOS 6.1, not Windows. Which means the real question is not about the hinge or about seven millimetres of thickness, but about software: what you run daily, and whether it has an equivalent on this system. The machine itself is engineered convincingly; judging it in practice starts from your own list of programs.
