Weekend

Marina Crescent stays open to midnight

No ticket to walk it, cafes and restaurants facing the boats, and the mall next door shuts an hour earlier.

Not every evening needs a ticket. Marina Crescent in Salmiya is an open waterfront you can walk end to end without paying for anything, and sit down only if you feel like it.

Where it is

On Arabian Gulf Street in Salmiya, alongside Marina Mall and joined to it by an enclosed glass bridge. Telephone 2224 4666.

Opening and closing

The Crescent closes at midnight. The mall next door closes at 11 pm, a full hour earlier, which is worth knowing if you meant to combine shopping with dinner: do the mall first and finish on the water.

What it costs

Walking the crescent and sitting on the edge of the marina cost nothing. In the cafés and restaurants, the typical spend runs between one and ten dinars according to the venue’s Google Maps listing.

Parking

There is dedicated parking on site, and it is a good deal calmer before eight in the evening than after.

When to go

After sunset. The crescent is lit, the boats are moored directly in front of the tables, and the air off the water at this point in the year has finally become bearable.
