Government employees: get your degree on file before Tuesday 20 October

Kuwait’s Civil Service Commission has given government bodies until Tuesday 20 October 2026 to finish updating the academic qualifications of their staff. Several earlier deadlines have come and gone; this one is described as final. After it, the bodies lose their update permissions and nothing more goes into the commission’s report, including anything sent during extensions.

Why it matters to you

Employees were asked through the Sahel app to update their qualification records. For those who did not, the commission has told their employers to warn them and take legal steps, which can mean referral to an investigation and the suspension of every financial and administrative benefit tied to the qualification.

What to do before Tuesday

  • Open Sahel and look for the qualification-update notification, if you received one.
  • Check with your HR department or your organisation’s liaison officer that your degree is recorded and current in the system.

Behind the deadline

The instruction comes from the commission’s committee that vets academic certificates of public- and private-sector workers. It will send a report on each government body to Sheraida Al-Maousherji, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, covering how many staff were reviewed, how far each body got, and whether it met the deadline.
