On the Smoke Me menu there is an item called “Meat Origin” priced at one fils — 0.001 dinars. It is not cooked and not eaten. It is there to say something the ordering platform has no room for: where the meat comes from.
What the item says
- Beef: Angus, frozen, from the United States.
- Chicken: chilled from Saudi Arabia, frozen from the Emirates.
That is something a lot of people ask about and rarely find written down. Putting it here is a trick played on the platform: it displays “items with prices”, not information pages, so the origin became an item with a token price in order to appear at all.
The time is written next to the price
- Brisket: smoked over wood for twelve hours.
- Short ribs: eight hours.
The prices
- Brisket, quarter pound (112.5g) with bread and sauce: 5.750.
- Brisket, half pound (225g) with bread, sauce and coleslaw: 9.500.
- Half a rack of ribs (two ribs) with bread and sauce: 16.500.
- One rib with coleslaw: 10.500.
- Half a smoked chicken with bread and sauce: 3.500.
- Six smoked chicken wings: 2.950.
- A meal: quarter pound brisket + half chicken + coleslaw + bread and sauce: 10.250.
- Coleslaw on its own: 1.250 · Kansas City sauce: 350 fils · four sauces (Kansas City, Alabama, east and south Carolina): 1.200.
- New: a hot pepper sausage sandwich in brioche: 4.500.
A sum worth noticing
The first quarter pound costs 5.750. The half pound is 9.500 and comes with coleslaw worth 1.250 — so the meat and a half sit at 8.250. Which puts the second quarter at about 2.500, not 5.750. The reason is familiar: the bread, the sauce and the labour are counted once.
The ribs work the same way: one rib with coleslaw is 10.500, two are 16.500. So a rib inside the half rack lands at 8.250 — less than the single rib.
And the hours are split
Two windows, not one: midnight to half past two in the morning, and midday to 11:55 at night. Between them is a gap from three in the morning to midday, and a breakfast order does not go through.
