Decree-Law No. 61 of 2026 issued the Law on Maritime Establishments and Floating Units. It applies to maritime establishments and floating units of no more than one hundred and fifty tons registered in Kuwait, and the Ministry of Interior says it took effect on 7 June 2026.
The window
Article 3 requires every registered maritime establishment and floating unit to regularise its status within no more than six months of the law taking effect — around 7 December 2026.
The fines
Article 32 sets fines of KD 250 to KD 500 for breaches concerning inspection, maintenance of safety equipment, unauthorised modifications, and the skipper’s licence.
